Nafplio is a picturesque town on the Greek mainland. The old town is filled with narrow streets lined with interesting shops and intriguing residences. The giant fortress named Palamidi dominates the city. Nafplio was exactly as I had pictured it should be--filled with history, beauty, and promises of more to come.

We used a tender from the Silver Shadow to go ashore in Nafplio. This was our first glimpse of the Palamidi Fortress high upon the hill on the right.
