Crete in the Greek Isles - Hiking the Samaria Gorge - Silversea Silver Shadow Shore Excursion

The village of Hora Sfakion is the small coastal town where the ferry takes hikers to the Samaria Gorge. The small town played an important role in World War II as the evacuation point for thousands of Allied troops after the Battle of Crete. The ferry leaves several times each day for the one hour ride to Agia Roumeli, the starting point for the Samaria Gorge hike.
