Northern Europe - Oslo, Norway - Scandinavia

< <  Previous Oslo Picture       Next Oslo Picture > >

The Ra II was built of reeds by Bolivian Indians in 1970, just 10 months after the Ra I was abandoned after almost making it across the Atlantic. Thor Heyerdahl successfully sailed the ship from Morocco in Africa to Barbados in the Caribbean, covering the 4000 miles in just 57 days. The voyages with Ra I and II proved that it was possible that old civilizations and the Americas had perhaps made contact.
