The Nyhavn area
is one of Copenhagen's most attractive. At one time, it was frequented by
sailors and the short street divided by the canal was lined with tatoo parlors.
Now, Nyhavn is lined with an astounding variety of restaurants and shops. The
brightly painted 18th century houses are well preserved, and Hans Christian
Andersen lived in 3 of them during his lifetime (numbers 18, 20, and 67). At the
harbor end of Nyhavn, you can catch a ferry to Oslo or the hydrofoil to Malmö.
