The garden at Pieter Paul Rubens' house. Rubens (1577-1640) was one of Belgium's most famous 17th century artists. He was born in Germany, but his family fled to Antwerp when he was a child to escape religious turmoil. Unlike many famous artists, he was popular during his lifetime and made quite a fortune from commissions. A tour of his home is a popular part of a tour of Antwerp. Note that pictures are not allowed inside his home--not even without flash.
