As the Renaissance R6 pulled away from the dock in Amsterdam, we were surprised to see the fireboat coming towards us, especially since we knew there was no fire! Everyone on our side of the ship was treated to a water cannon display, as the next few pictures demonstrate.  I asked the Cruise Director later that evening if the fireboat always saluted the ship when it left the city. He said that sometimes on an inaugural visit to a city some sort of festivities would occur, but that this was the first time the fire boat had honored the ship in Amsterdam.  Weren't we lucky! The next couple of pictures show the fire boat up close.
