Dr. Charlie Love describes the archaeological artifacts at the monument at Pa'eke near Taipivai on Nuku Hiva. The trail to this site was uphill and very muddy and full of mosquitoes. To make it even more challenging, we had a downpour of rain that soaked us all, followed by some oppressive heat and humidity. The site was very interesting, but we were all glad to get a hot shower when we returned to the ship. I didn't think I would ever get the mud off our shoes and our clothes, especially since I fell down in a big mud hole! < < Previous picture of Nuku Hiva Next picture of Nuku Hiva > >
