Holland America's New TheGreenhouse Spa and Salon Highlights Exotic Treatments,
Flexible Fitness Programs
Popular Extension of Landside Spa Brand to
be Hallmark of Line's new Vista Series
Seattle, February 24, 2003- Guests sailing aboard Holland America
Line's new Vista-class ships can add a new stop to their itinerary -
TheGreenhouse Spa and Salon. The largest spa facility in Holland America's fleet
and one of the largest spas at sea offers a wide range of exotic health and
beauty treatments and a plethora of exercise classes appropriate for almost any
age and fitness level including step, water aerobics, and body sculpting.
TheGreenhouse Spa also offers programs that introduce guests to cycling, Pilates
or yoga for a small surcharge.
TheGreenhouse Spa and Salon, a hallmark
feature in the line's Vista-class ships including the ms Zuiderdam and
the under-construction ms Oosterdam, is the seagoing version of a popular
landside spa brand.
"Our guests can look forward to indulging in an
unhurried, tranquil spa experience," said David A. Giersdorf, vice president of
marketing and sales for Holland America Line. "TheGreenhouse Spa perfectly
complements the unparalleled service and amenities found aboard Holland
America's Vista-class ships."
The most prominent feature in
TheGreenhouse Spa is the glass-enclosed, 18-by-22-foot hydrotherapy pool which
uses heated seawater and strategically placed high power jets to alleviate sore
joints and muscles. Another sanctuary is a state-of-the art, unisex thermal
suite that offers a series of heat-therapy chambers including a Laconium (gentle
sauna), a Hamman (mild steam), a Chamomile Grotto and multiple relaxation
loungers.
Zuiderdam's TheGreenhouse Spa and Salon features an
array of new amenities and a staff of 23 - twice the complement of most
shipboard spas. Holland America also has increased the number of treatment
rooms, allowing more space for new treatments such as soothing sensory dry
floats and aroma stone therapy, which uses heated volcanic basalt stones with
warm spicy oils.
TheGreenhouse Fitness Program provides fitness
equipment including treadmills, stair-step machines, stationary bikes, free
weights and Cybex weight machines.
Traditional health and exercise
classes include step classes, aerobics, resistance training in the pool, toning
classes and more. The spa's specialized classes give guests an intense workout
in New Body Cycling; realign the body and relax the mind in New Body Yoga; and
improve their posture and gain core strength in the New Body Pilates class.
Classes cost as little as $11 and spaces can be reserved.
