Press Release:  Carnival Cruise Line
Myriad Formal and Casual Options, Supper Club Featuring Joe's Stone Crabs, Available Aboard New Carnival Legend

Dateline:  May 14, 2002

MIAMI (05/14/02) - The new Carnival Legend will offer guests a tantalizing array of formal and casual dining options, including an elegant two-level main dining room, an expansive poolside eatery, and a "steakhouse-style" supper club offering prime aged beef, along with a Carnival exclusive -- crab claws from Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant. Carnival Legend is the third "Fun Ship" to feature the world famous Florida delicacy.

The succulent crustaceans will be among the featured menu items in The Golden Fleece, a reservations-only supper club located at the top of a soaring nine-deck-high atrium and housed under a red-tinted glass dome that forms the forward portion of the ship's massive winged funnel. In addition to crab claws from Florida's most famous dining establishment, the intimate two-level restaurant will serve top quality, hand-cut beef, seafood and other upscale cuisine, all of which are enjoyed amidst striking interiors inspired by the Greek legend Jason and the Argonauts with gold bas-relief ships, black and gold figures of Jason, Grecian urns and other classic design elements. Gracing the restaurant's intimate bar is a two-foot-high by four-foot-long sculpture of the Golden Fleece.

The Golden Fleece  Supper Club is just one of several delicious dining options available on the new 88,500-ton SuperLiner. The $375 million "floating resort" is also home to Truffles, a 1,250-seat formal restaurant where dine s can select from eight different soups, salads and appetizers, seven main courses, including the ever-popular Caribbean lobster tail once each cruise, and six desserts nightly, all served by friendly and efficient staff. Also available nightly in Truffles is Carnival Spa Fare, delicious guilt-free selections that are lower in fat, cholesterol, sodium and calories. Truffles features a dramatic décor that includes display cases housing elegant, decorative china patterns -- soup tureens, cups, saucers and platters - along with ceiling and wall murals featuring the swirling flowers, vines, vegetables, and tendrils made famous in Royal Copenhagen's Flora Danica china pattern.

The décor of the Carnival Legend's two-level casual restaurant, the Unicorn Café, is just as dramatic, with bas relief sculptures of Unicorns, gothic arches and other medieval-inspired touches. Here, guests enjoy self-service breakfast and lunch buffets, extensive salad and dessert bars, meat-carving and made-to-order pasta stations, and 24-hour pizza and ice cream. A variety of specialty dining areas, including "Asian Corner," serving authentic delicacies from the Far East; "Taste of the Nation," featuring traditional cuisine from a different country each day; "The Rotisserie," serving broiled and roasted chicken and steak; and a New York-style deli, with hot and cold sandwiches and classic deli side dishes; are located throughout the sprawling 1,000-seat restaurant. The Unicorn Café is also home to the nightly "Seaview Bistro," Carnival's alternative dinner-time service featuring steaks, seafood, pasta, salads and other dishes served in a relaxed, café-like atmosphere.

Carnival Legend, like other "Fun Ships," will also offer complimentary 24-hour stateroom service with a variety of freshly made sandwiches, salads, fruits, and baked-on-board desserts available anytime of the day or night. And, at the Legend's Café, the ship's patisserie, guests can enjoy specialty coffees - lattes, cappuccinos, espressos and the like - and sweets such as chocolate covered strawberries, apple strudel, Black Forest cake and banana splits. All of these options comprise Carnival's Total Choice Dining (SM), cruising's most comprehensive dining program offering the widest variety of culinary choices at sea, which, when combined with the Carnival Legend's vast array of entertainment and activity options, add up to the ultimate cruise vacation. Carnival Legend is scheduled to enter service Aug. 24 with a 12-day Northern European voyage round-trip from Harwich (near London) followed by a 15-day transatlantic crossing departing Harwich Sept. 5 and arriving New York Sept. 20. From New York, the ship will operate two- and three-day cruises-to-nowhere and 11-day Canada/New England sailings then sail on six-day Bermuda cruises from Baltimore and Philadelphia in October. Carnival Legend will then reposition to Miami to operate a two-day cruise-to-nowhere then launch eight-day Caribbean sailings from that port Nov. 10. Following these voyages, the ship will launch a one-of-a-kind eight-day Caribbean cruise program from New York May 13, 2003.
