A Regal
Cruise to Nowhere
This was my
wife's first cruise ever and truthfully she was afraid. No sweat!!! We've
already booked three more cruises. Anyway, about the Empress she's not new and
she's not glitzy, but she sure is a lot of fun, and the crew are
outstanding--from the captain who constantly mingles with the passengers
welcoming them aboard; the entertainers (i think i fell in love with Christine
in the chorus line), she's beautiful; the very professional waiters in the grand
dining room who serve your very tasty meals; and all the crew who were
constantly bending over backwards to keep the passengers happy. This was a 2
day cruise to nowhere out of Port Manatee, Florida (Fri-Sun). Embarkation was
the only dreaded part of the whole cruise, you have to park all the way on the
other side of the port and take a shuttle back to the ship, about an hour total
with long wait for shuttle. Once aboard we were escorted to room P20a (a
handicapped room as my wife has MS) on the promenade deck. Our location was
excellent as the pool-Jacuzzis and live 3 piece band were on our deck as well as
the pool bar and the all day buffet restaurant, pizzeria and where they make
fresh donuts every morning. The room was
an inside cabin with 2 twin beds, large dresser and desk and chair, adequate
closet space and a good size bathroom. The dinners in the main dining room are
great, we ate breakfast and lunch from the buffet at our leisure, there is
almost always food available somewhere. The shows in the lounge were a little
slow the first night but a lot more lively on the second night. The chorus line
is excellent especially Christine (can't get her out of my mind). The casino was
crowded the first night, but not bad after that and the machines did pay out ok,
they even have 6 nickel machines always the hardest to get on, except at 7 am.
Overall our 2 day cruise to nowhere was so much fun we have booked three 7 day
cruises between now and Jan.4 next year. Thank you
Regal Empress and crew for opening our eyes to what we have been missing by not
have been constant cruisers. Explore CruisesMust ReadsAbout.com Special FeaturesBest Moves in a Bad EconomyStay on top in this tough economy with our smart, easy-to-follow financial tips.
