The Bottom Line
Great guide book for getting some general background information on the Mediterranean, its history, and its ports of call. Limited material on cruise ships and preparing for your cruise.
Pros
- Valuable information on ports of call
- Clear, concise, and interesting facts
- Good history on the Mediterranean
Cons
- General information a little limited
- Overview of ports, not details
Description
- Excellent reference material on highlights of the ports, but may not be detailed enough for some.
- Exceptional guide for planning Mediterranean shore excursions in numerous locations.
- Good drawings, photos and maps for each port of call, but many are in black and white.
- Facts you learn in book about each port will impress your cruise dinner companions.
Guide Review - Book Review - Mediterranean By Cruise Ship
This guidebook is perfect for anyone who is looking for an overview of numerous ports of call in the Mediterranean and doesn't want to buy several books for just one cruise. It's also useful in learning about the "must sees" at each location and planning your time ashore. At the same time, it might not be detailed enough for those seeking to learn a lot about a particular location or who are planning to stay in a port for several days.
There is one short chapter on "Preparing for Your Cruise" that is a little limited. It provides information on phoning home, but not emailing, and has a section on photography, but doesn't acknowledge digital cameras.
