AIDAaura Cruise Ship

New German-Speaking Cruise Ship

By Linda Garrison, About.com

AIDAvita, sister to the AIDAaura

AIDAvita Cruise Ship

Aida is the German unit of P&O Cruises, the U.K. parent of Princess Cruises in the U.S. If you've ever seen one of AIDA's ships while cruising in Europe, you'll smile at the giant red lips and eye painted on the ship. The AIDAvita, sister ship to the AIDAaura, is shown at the right. Isn't she "lovely"?

P&O Princess' German unit, Aida, expands its fleet in 2003 with the AIDAaura. This ship will offer casual cruising to a mostly youth-oriented market. The Aida line is entirely German-speaking, so you will need to be fluent in German in order to communicate with the staff and your fellow passengers. Even the Aida Web site is in German only!
