Northern Europe - Amsterdam, Netherlands

< <  Previous Picture        Next Picture  > >

The Sunday afternoon we were in Amsterdam, we were "treated" to a parade of transvestites. Most were walking in the parade, but these "ladies" traveled in style--by horse drawn carriage. All were flaunting their costumes, makeup and hair. The parade was in the Red Light District, and it was packed with good-natured tourists and locals. For a small town girl like me who is originally from the boondocks, it was both fascinating and weird. We were unable to determine how often the parade occurs or what the occasion was!
