Northern Europe - Amsterdam, Netherlands

< <  Previous Picture        Next Picture  > >

If you think the Central Station (Centraal Station in Dutch) of Amsterdam resembles the Rijksmuseum, you are right! Both were designed in the Dutch neo-Renaissance style by P.J. Cuypers. This landmark has been the transportation hub for Amsterdam since it opened in 1885. It is located near the center of the city. Our ship docked a short 15 minute walk from the Central Station at the Amsterdam Passenger Terminal. Sometimes cruise ships will dock at the Felison Terminal, a 30-minute drive from the center of the city, or at Scandia Terminal, a 15-minute drive. The boats in the foreground are just some of the many that take tourists for a ride on the Amsterdam canals.

The Central Station fronts one of Amsterdam's many canals.
