Takapoto Island in the Tuamotu Archipelago of Tahiti and French Polynesia

Takapoto Island in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia was the first port of call for the Aranui 3 passenger freighter. The Aranui anchored outside the atoll, and we took the whaleboats ashore. Some passengers walked through the small village, but many of us walked the 40 minutes to the beach inside the lagoon. While there, we swam, snorkeled, had a presentation on black pearls, and enjoyed a picnic barbeque. Below are some pictures of our day on Takapoto.
