Northern Europe - Amsterdam, Netherlands
Rembrandt painted this picture of a group of textile guild members in 1662 at the age of 56. His ability to show both the portrait and the personality of each of the men is why Rembrandt was considered such a Dutch master. The painting is called De Staalmeesters, but we all know it as the Dutch Masters. If you've never been to the Rijksmuseum but think you have seen it before, you may have - on a box of cigars!
