Grand Princess - Western Caribbean Cruise Review - Page 2

Grand Princess Cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Princess Cays

From Charlotte

COZUMEL: The "Cave Exploration with Beach Lunch Tour" We took a ferry from Cozumel to the mainland of Playa Del Carmen. Beware....the ferry ride is very rocky and those who get sea sick easy should take serious precautions! Once in Playa Del Carmen, we boarded an air conditioned bus to check out some underground caves. Our tour guide was excellent, but the bus ride was vey slow and bumpy due to construction on the road. The tour of the caves was great, but again very rushed. Make sure you swim in the underground fresh water pool if you get a chance....cold, but very refreshing! On our way back to Play del Carmen, we enjoyed some Mexican beer and then spent the rest of the afternoon at Playa Beach. We enjoyed an authentic Mexican cuisine lunch and swam in the warm water. We returned via ferry, where we had some time to do some shopping in Cozumel.

WEATHER: Overall, the weather wasn't very good. It was overcast most days, with the odd few minutes of sunshine, and it rained alot. I was told later that the beginning of November is the end of the rainy season. That is probably why the cruise was slightly cheaper at this time.

ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment on the cruise was awesome. The singers, dances, comics, were all really great. You could go to as many or as few shows you wanted. The "Princess Pater" was an excellent news paper that would show you the events of the day.

FOOD: Excellent food. No complaints at all. I was disappointed that you had to pay for pop and juice. If you enjoy your alcohol, be prepared for an extra expense. We drank mostly water, coffee, tea, and pop. It is a cashless system, so you have a card that is swiped if you purchase anything (beverage, gifts, etc.)

DISEMBARKATION: This process was very easy. There is always the anxiety of if your bags are going to be lost somewhere, but they made it. We had another hour wait on the bus and were getting quite nervous since our plane was due to leave Ft Launderdale in 90 minutes. We made it to the airport in time and it was very busy and confusing as to where to go. We finally figured it out and had a relatively uneventful air trip home.

NEXT TIME: We will definitly cruise Princess again, and in fact are looking at the Tahiti 10 day trip. We think we may consider booking the flight ourselves this time to avoid a long travel time.
