Immerse Yourself in History on a Small Ship Cruise - Aegean Odyssey

By January 29, 2014

Follow me on:

The small cruise ship (378-passenger) the Aegean Odyssey in the only ship owned by Voyages to Antiquity, a cruise line that specializes in destination-oriented, educational cruise tours of the central and eastern Mediterranean.

The ship was significantly refurbished when it was acquired by Voyages to Antiquity, and it has nice cabins and some lovely indoor common areas. Since most of the cruises are in warm weather, the Aegean Odyssey also has some marvelous, expansive outdoor decks; all covered with teak and featuring luxurious padded deck chairs.

I sailed on an Aegean Odyssey eastern Mediterranean itinerary between Athens and Istanbul. Although I only did the 7-night cruise, plus one night in an Istanbul hotel, the entire cruise tour was 12 nights consisting of 2 nights in an Athens hotel, the 7-night cruise, and 3 nights in an Istanbul hotel. This tour was an excellent mixture of the two major cities, important ancient archaeological sites, and charming Greek and Turkish ports of call.
