Wine lovers will start salivating when they think about Bordeaux, the most important wine region of France. Did you know you can visit Bordeaux on a small or mid-sized cruise ship? These ships sail up the Gironde River to the city of Bordeaux, and then guests can take bus tours of the wine region.
While on a food and wine cruise on the Crystal Symphony, I loved seeing all of the grand chateaux of the wineries, and was surprised to see the rocky soil covered with vineyards. Our tour group disembarked the ship at Soulac-sur-Mer and rejoined the Crystal Symphony in the city of Bordeaux after driving through the region and stopping for a wine tasting. Learning about French wine making and the history of the Bordeaux wine region was an added plus.
