Close Encounter with the Gray Whales of Magdalena Bay, Mexico

Sometimes my travel timing works out perfectly! I had one of my most memorable wildlife interactions ever while on a Sea of Cortez cruise on the American Safari Cruises' Safari Quest. The giant gray whale mommas and their babies were preparing for the migration north, and the babies were old enough that the mothers let them come close to our small boats. These photos aptly demonstrate what an amazing day we had.
