I love horses, but I'm not much of a rider. However, while the American Safari Cruises' Safari Quest was anchored at Puerto Agua Verde, our small group of passengers did a trail ride into the desert area around the beautiful bay. The horses, mules, and burros were supplied by a local rancher, who matched us with the appropriate animal based on our size and riding experience.
The ride lasted about an hour and a half, and we saw many cows, a small old cemetery, and a few ranch buildings. Mostly we just enjoyed seeing the Mexican countryside without having to hike!
