Lanzarote is a small volcanic island in the Spanish Canary Islands of the Atlantic Ocean.
Lanzarote is certainly "off the beaten path" for most European cruises, but repositioning cruises from the Americas or cruises between the Mediterranean and Lisbon or northern Europe sometimes include stopovers for a day in Lanzarote.

The island is certainly very interesting, especially for those of us who are enthralled by volcanoes and geothermal activity. Lanzarote's last volcanic eruption was only about 300 years ago, and the landscape reminded me of the volcanic areas of Hawaii.
Thing to do on Lanzarote include camel riding, hiking, and seeing just how close to the surface the volcanic activity is.

Lanzarote is truly a very nice place and I find it perfect as it isnt overcrowded because much of the larger cruise ships can’t actually get to it. I usually find that there arent that many cruises to the Canary islands which is quite disappointing really as it has perfect weather all year round. Most of the cruises tend to be in the Summer holidays where all the ships are filled with kids.
Lanzarote still offers what most tourist destinations dont, realy beauty without too much overcrowding.
Outside of the traditionally busy periods, the Canary Islands and especially Lanzarote still have loads to offer. As Laura above me states, Lanzarote is a great island if you’re looking for some nice weather and it lacks the hustle and bustle of Tenerife.
We’ve noticed a lot of people looking for sailings to the Canary Islands and Lanzarote, in particular luxury cruises with lines such as Cunard.
Lanzarote is becoming the last paradise on earth thanks to its volcanic nature that makes it very difficult for construction to spoil it.
