I visited Barcelona for the first time in April 2000, well over a decade ago. How time flies! At that time, I had not traveled extensively in Europe, and my first look at Gaudi's famous unfinished cathedral, La Sagrada Familia, was breathtaking. Since that first trip to Barcelona, I've been back many times, and each time I travel to the cathedral to see what changes have been made. Progress has been slow. It's been under construction for over 100 years, with more work to be done.
The church has some of the most ornate, complex architecture I've ever seen. People either love the design or hate it. I'm fascinated by the way the current architects have added their own touch to Gaudi's original designs. La Sagrada Familia is certainly one must-see when you visit Barcelona.
