Those of us who love river cruises know about the marvelous sights along the great rivers of Europe, the Nile River in Egypt, the Columbia River of North America, and the Yangtze River in China. How many of you have considered sailing on the Mekong River in Vietnam? Being a baby boomer, I knew about the Mekong River and its importance during the Vietnam War. It's amazing how things can change in 35 years! Starting just this year, AMAWaterways' new ms La Marguerite sails 7-day Mekong river cruises between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Starting in late spring 2011, AMAWaterways will add a second ship to the Mekong River and its 15-day "Vietnam, Cambodia & the Riches of the Mekong" cruise tour program. The ms La Marguerite and her new (yet unnamed) sister ship will depart on the same day of the week, one sailing downstream from Siem Reap, and the other sailing upstream from Ho Chi Minh City.
It's exciting to have new parts of the world to explore via a cruise, isn't it?Ho Chi Minh City (c) Linda Garrison
