Ruby Princess Christening Ceremony - New Ruby Princess Joins the Princess Cruises' Fleet

Sunday November 9, 2008
Red confetti filled the air as The Bachelorette couple Trista and Ryan Sutter, the Ruby Princess godparents, released the lever to break the traditional bottle of champagne against the ship at the Ruby Princess christening (naming) ceremony on November 7 in Fort Lauderdale.

Hundreds of journalists, travel agents, cruise line employees, and VIPs attended the romantically-themed christening ceremony. The late afternoon weather in Fort Lauderdale was perfect, and red roses and red bunting decorated the pool area for the event. Since most of the attendees wore red and sipped festive ruby red drinks (raspberry martinis and Chambord & Champagne) while we enjoyed the festivities, the Ruby Princess seemed to glow with a ruby aura that evening. Princess even had a vocalist with red hair, Philiipa Healey, entertain the guests. To enhance the romantic theme, a wedding was held during the event, and Princess partnered with USAToday to sponsor a contest, with the winners receiving a cruise on the Ruby Princess.

Princess' newest ship is almost identical to her sister ships the Emerald Princess and Crown Princess. She will sail the Caribbean this winter and the Mediterranean next summer.
