I think those beautiful pink flowers are a type of fireweed.
That looks a lot like Joe Pye Weed to me. Thanks for the Alaska pix, Linda. Some of my dearest friends and former neighbors have headed there to have jobs. I miss them madly, and enjoy seeing what they’re seeing, even if it’s second-hand.
We were just there a couple weeks ago - taking the White Pass & Yukon RR up the pass. Totally worth doing - at least once if you’re in Skagway.
Sue - That photo was taken from the White Pass Railway, on a cruise ship shore excursion in August. I’ll bet the mountains had more snow when you saw them in May!
