Cunard Announces Design Elements of New Queen Victoria Ocean Liner

Tuesday June 26, 2007
When the designers of Cunard's newest ocean liner, Queen Victoria, began to consider the ship's interior public spaces, they drew upon the history of previous Cunard ocean liners to set the tone for the new ship, which will be launched in December 2007.

The designers included many high ceilings, a design feature of grand liners of the past, and planned for the rooms to have a contemporary yet classical look.

The 90,000-ton Queen Victoria will offer the best of Cunard's traditions, along with modern day luxuries including some innovations. These will include private viewing boxes in the Royal Court Theatre; the first Cunardia museum exhibit at sea, housing Cunard artifacts and memorabilia; and a two-story library at sea featuring a spiral staircase. The ship will also feature the line's Queens Grill and Princess Grill accommodations and dining, further enhanced on Queen Victoria with exclusive deck terraces and an al fresco dining option.
