Book Review - Cruising 101: Smart Guide for Choosing the Best Holidays at Sea

Tuesday April 24, 2007
Cruising 101Reporter Jean-Marc Papineau shares his love of cruising in this collection of concise anecdotes about several of the most popular cruise lines he has enjoyed over the past two decades. Mr. Papineau also gives 15 tips for cruisers, ideas for finding cruise bargains, his perspective on the best cruise ships for families, and his 20 favorite cruise ship features, which range from best swimming pool (Celebrity Constellation) to the best buffet (Golden Princess).

The 98-page book is interesting for those who enjoy reading about some of the most popular cruise ships, but is not really detailed enough to help cruise newcomers select a specific cruise ship since only a few pages are devoted to each line.

(1) Jean-Marc Papineau says:

CRUISING 101 covers about 80% on the cruis market, not about the offer (dozen of cruise lines or 400 ships), but about the demand of peaople (the majority of nine millions of Americans who have cruised last year sailed with one of the 10 most important cruise lines that CRUISING 101 talk about. And these 10 lines represents about the 125 most popular cruise ships.

This cruise guide is not for experts. It’s a consummer guide for passengers looking for the best deal. CRUISING 101 explains how to choose among the most popular cruise lines the one that best suits your lifestyle, and how to get the nicest cruise ships at the best prices.

This guide helped me to choose the right cruise line and ship. I got a 5-night cruise just for $249. Very helpful and interesting, but maybe a little bit too short.

The first commenter is the author?? He can’t even spell, let alone write a coherent sentence. I don’t think I’d take his advice.
