Update on Star Princess Cruise Ship Fire
Tuesday April 25, 2006
Princess Cruises announced today that it will comply with the new safety procedures recommended by the International Council of Cruise Lines. Princess has already implemented a 24-hour fire watch of the cabin balconies, introduced specific training and fire response procedures for the crew in handling fires on balconies, enhanced communication to passengers regarding fire safety, and changed certain crew housekeeping procedures on balconies. Although Princess believes the fire on the Star Princess was an isolated incident, the company will ensure that its permanent safety changes comply with all U.S. and U.K. regulatory requirements.
