Radisson Seven Seas Cruises Announces 28 Theme Voyages

Thursday January 5, 2006
Luxury cruise line Radisson Seven Seas announces 28 theme voyages in 2006. The intriguing themes include a little for everyone, with topics such as music, antiques, photography, yoga, films, food & wine, and chocolate. These seven- to 18-night voyages, featuring such intriguing themes as jazz, cooking, antiques, and digital photography, will sail the shores of Western Europe, the Baltic, British Isles, the Mediterranean, Alaska, Asia, Australasia, and Caribbean, in addition to transatlantic and transpacific crossings.

28 Radisson Seven Seas Cruises In 2006 Feature Exciting “Spotlight” Themes

Twenty-eight voyages on the acclaimed 700-guest all-balcony suite Seven Seas Voyager® and Seven Seas Mariner®, and the 490-guest all-suite (90% with private balconies) Seven Seas Navigator® will feature complimentary Spotlight theme programming.

The Spotlight themes complement itineraries with onboard and shore side programs, creating memorable vacations filled with adventure, learning, and discovery. Spotlights on Food & Wine celebrate the flavors of ports reached with guest and celebrity chefs including Philippe Marc of the Alain Ducasse restaurant Relais du Plaza in the Plaza Athenée hotel in Paris, Fredrik Hald, Norway’s Chef of the Year, and from New York, Stephen Lewandowski of Tribeca Grill, and Toni Robertson of the Mandarin Oriental. In addition to cooking classes, market visits and special signature menus, guests will enjoy a series of wine tastings hosted by experts like Gérard Margeon, executive wine master of New York’s Alain Ducasse, and Scott and Rebecca Remmenga of California’s Alapay Cellars.

Palates and culinary techniques will be sharpened during the Spotlight on Cooking from Asia to Australia featuring kitchen queens Grace Young and Annabelle White, along with Australian TV’s Dining Down Under team, and regional vintners. Or, for those who crave sugar, a truly “sweet” adventure will be had on the Spotlight on Chocolate cruise, which will offer mouthwatering samples confected by one of the world’s leading pastry chefs, Parisian superstar Christophe Michalak.

For antiques lovers, “Antiques Boatshow” voyages offer a golden opportunity to sail with experts from the popular BBC program Antiques Roadshow. Through lectures, demonstrations and shopping previews, Hilary Kay, Paul Atterbury and David Battie will teach guests how to best locate and buy treasures ashore. And, on the last night of the cruise, the appraisers will stage a shipboard version of the popular TV show in which they assess guests’ finds.

Guests may trip the light fantastic aboard eight Spotlights on Music, Big Band/Dance, and Jazz with performances by a roster of distinguished artists including the Cary Richards Band, guitarist Larry Coryell, saxophonist David Sanchez, pianist Junior Mance, the Fine Arts Quartet and students and faculty from the famed Juilliard School of Music.

From screens big and small, an illustrious cast of Broadway and Hollywood greats will headline a Spotlight on Theatre. The star-studded sailing will feature Ed Asner, Cliff Robertson, Gena Rowlands, John Tillinger, Leslie Uggams, Lee Roy Reams, and Patricia Neal.

Movie buffs will delight in the South Seas “Film Festival at Sea” featuring film experts from Hollywood and New Zealand, while the ship’s chefs will recreate classic film meals including Babette’s Feast and the towering timpano from Big Night, plus exotic dishes from Like Water for Chocolate.

Travelers can stretch their minds and bodies with Michael Lechonczak and Robin Whitney Levine, creators of Intelligent Yoga™, and the Sarah Rockler Yoga team during Spotlight on Yoga and Wellbeing sailings. Psychologist Dr. Barbara Udell’s tips on stress management will augment daily yoga sessions, and the ship’s chefs will provide new approaches to healthy cooking.

Shutterbugs and novices alike can perfect their picture taking craft during Spotlight on Digital Photography sailings in the Mediterranean and scenic Alaska featuring photographers Roger Paperno, Kenneth Haas and Michael Dunning, plus digital photo software experts.

In addition to Spotlight cruising, select 2006 voyages will feature Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society lecturers and hands-on Le Cordon Bleu® workshops.
