LOS ANGELES - May 10, 2005 - Tired of the bus tour? Try Halifax by Hummer instead. Rather than looking up at Manhattan's skyscrapers, soar above the skyline by helicopter. Don a kilt and bonnet from Queen Victoria's 78th Regiment and guard the Citadel. Spend an afternoon tasting scotch in an old Scottish fort in Nova Scotia. These are just a few of the unexpected new ways to explore old cities during Crystal Symphony's 2005 fall New England/Canada season.
Of the 72 Crystal Adventures offered from September through November, 33 are new, offering a wide variety of unusual and intriguing experiences.
Some are authentic:
A trip to Boston's Fenway Park;
A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge;
A Broadway performance and private lunch with the cast of Wicked; and,
Lessons in Charleston's Lowcountry cookin'.
Some are fun:
Evening theater outings in Boston to see Blue Man Group or Shear Madness (in conjunction with itinerary's new Boston overnight);
A land/sea tour of Boston aboard a WWII amphibious "Duck;" and,
A visit to TV-famous "Cheers," the neighborhood brewery of TV fame.
And others are active:
Bicycling through Boston's Back Bay, Beacon Hill and along the Charles River;
Horseback riding in Québec's Jacques Cartier Park; and,
Coastal kayaking along Bar Harbor's Frenchman's Bay.

The luxury line's renowned "Wine & Food Festival" is featured on three Fall Foliage itineraries spotlighting the culinary talents of visiting chefs David and Michelle Myers of Los Angeles' hot new Sona, Dominique Filoni of Philadelphia's cutting-edge Bianca and Celestino Drago, chef/owner of several favorite Los Angeles restaurants. These voyages are enriched with culinary shoreside experiences including:
Lobsterbakes at Peggy's Cove in Halifax and Acadia National Forest in Bar Harbor;
A proper Victorian Tea and a Regimental Dinner served amidst the history of Halifax's Citadel;
Wine tastings and walking tours in Québec and Halifax;
A flavorful visit to the Island of Orleans to sample delectable mustards, duck pates, preserves, cider wines and maple taffy; and,
A visit to Boston's Union Oyster House (est. 1826), the country's oldest operating restaurant, for some New England clam chowder and warm cornbread.
The fall splendor and rich history of New England and Canada is showcased on five itineraries ranging from seven to 11 days exploring the great cities and treasured harbors of North America. Three 11-day cruises travel between New York and Montréal (September 17 and 28; October 16), a seven-day escape cruises round-trip from New York (October 9), and a 10-day colonial coast itinerary travels from Montréal to Ft. Lauderdale (October 27).
Depending on itinerary, ports of call include Bar Harbor, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts (overnight); Charleston, South Carolina; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Newport, Rhode Island; and Québec City, Québec (overnight). Seven-, 10- and 11-day fares begin at $2,195, and $2,995, respectively, based on per person, double occupancy accommodations.
