Holland America Will Name Its 15th Ship the Nieuw Amsterdam

Holland America Line will reflect the glamor and history of New York City in the interior design of its 15th ship, which will be delivered in 2010. The 86,000-ton, 2,106-passenger ship will be named the Nieuw Amsterdam, the former name of New York City. The Nieuw Amsterdam will be built at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard.

Sailing from Miami, this 108-day voyage explores South America, Africa and India, with a greatly expanded focus on the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Black Sea, and several European ports in the Mediterranean Sea en route to London.

Cunard Line Announces 2010 World Cruises

The Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria will depart in January 2010 on their World Cruises.

Queen Mary 2's "Royal Route of Exploration" will chart a completely new, Eastbound-Westbound route on an itinerary of 101 days featuring 19 maiden calls, three overnight stays (in Hong Kong, Sydney and Cape Town) and her inaugural visit to South Africa.

Queen Victoria's 99-day "Voyage of Discovery" circumnavigation includes 11 maiden ports of call, three overnights (in Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai) and three U.S. embarkation gateways: New York, Ft. Lauderdale and San Francisco.

Passengers who book by February 28, 2009 receive an additional 10% off Early Booking Fares.

Cruise West Enters Europe Market in 2009 with Danube River Cruise

Cruise West travels to Europe for the first time in 2009 with 11-and 12-day Danube River cruises.

The new Vienna to Bucharest route provides tours in Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and cruising in the Danube Delta onboard the new 148-guest Amadeus Diamond; the luxury vessel is launching in 2009 . Four departure date options include July 16 and 24,2009 and October 13 and 21, 2009.

The cruise will embark from either Vienna or Bucharest, and the ship will also visit Osijek and Belgrade. In addition, passengers will have the opportunity to explore the remote areas of the Danube Delta aboard specialty vessels.
